Oleksandr Usyk promises financial reward if Ukrainians win Olympic medals

Oleksandr Usyk, Olympic gold medallist in London and WBC heavyweight world champion in 2024, has pledged to pay financial rewards from his own pocket to Ukrainian medal-winning athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Oleksandr Usyk, heavyweight winner at the London 2012 Olympic Games and holder of several world belts in the professional ranks (in heavyweight-lightweight and heavyweight), with a final title acquired in May 2024, has promised bonuses to Ukrainian athletes taking part in the Paris Games in the event of victory.

Thus, Oleksandr Khyzhniak (silver medallist in Tokyo), Aider Abduraimov and Dmytro Lovchynsky, the three Ukrainian boxers competing in Paris, will receive from Usyk $80,000 for a gold medal, $70,000 for silver and $50,000 for bronze.

Usyk was present at the Arena Paris Nord to witness Lovchynskyi’s knockout defeat of Australia’s Teremoana Junior on Monday.
