Shakur Stevenson‘s team have had enough of waiting for an offer from Gervonta Davis, so they’re heading for a fight that could have even more entertainment value.
Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs), champion in three divisions and WBC lightweight champion, has verbally agreed to fight Mexico’s William Zepeda (31-0, 27 KOs) next, and Zepeda has also tentatively agreed, according to a person close to the matter who is not authorized to speak publicly on the subject as financial and other terms have not yet been finalized.
At this time, the most likely date and venue for the fight is October 12 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the main event of the undisputed middleweight championship bout between unbeaten Russians Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.
Zepeda promoter Oscar De La Hoya and Turki Alalshikh alluded to the fight in a message posted on social networks on Sunday.
